The optional Extension is appended to the new Filenames, behind the Index: Frame.001.jpg.

But pay attention: If these Files shall be renamed another time, you will have to enable Search Index in the Settings. Otherwise the files will be renamed without index (this will be told you by request) and the order would be destroyed (they would be sorted alphabetically).
